This piece took several years. I added the texture to the canvas and started painting, then tore my rotator cuff and couldn’t finish it. After 2 years of suffering, I had the surgery, then another 1+ years of recovering before I could paint on it again. By that time, I changed my mind on the direction of the piece and started over – but left the texture. This second attempt was the right one and it just came together.
I was not sure what to name it when my oldest grandson dropped by. He immediately said that it looked like the horse from the Unexpected Journey Hobbit movie, so that became it’s name.
