Bullet Journal Plans Can Change

When I first started using my bullet journal, I set up sections and pages and went to work only to realize that I just didn’t think it through enough. When you set up your journal, don’t be surprised if you come to the same conclusion and don’t hesitate to step back to make it right.

Hiding unwanted pages in your bullet journal

I do not recommend tearing any pages out of your bullet journal. There’s really no need. Use Washi tape to tape edge of one sheet to edge of other sheet. See image to the right. It’s the striped edge. If I flipped the page, the striped edge would be on the left side. Tape as many pages together as you want. The tape adds character and really looks nice.

Sections for your bullet journal

I am in all of my sections constantly and do not want to go to the table of contents each time. I had the 3M colored tabs across the top, but they kept hiding behind each other. So, I moved them to the right side of the bullet journal and WAALAA! Mucho better.

Weekly set up for Bullet Journals

Change and change and change, then POOF! I find the layout I like. Below are what I finally decided on.

Pin Oak is my real job, Art is my other job, Personal is well, personal stuff. Get is what I need to make sure I get when I’m out. I have a grocery list, but these are more urgent things that I need to focus on. Weekend is what I need to make sure I get done on the weekend and Out is where all I need to go when I get in my car and head out.

Adding a Budget section to a bullet journal

IMG_3359

I am the first to admit that I can nickel and dime my way into spending all my money. Budgeting is not anything that I’m anywhere near good at. So, my friend Rhonda suggested my doing this and I’m giving it a shot.

All I need to see is the amounts in the columns to let me know where I’m at. I have to admit, this week I’ve been more hesitant to eat out and – I can’t cook. Just don’t want to put anything in that column.

Specialty calendars in my bullet journal

I am an artist and I do exhibitions. After you get 3 or 4 shows going at once, you can get a little overwhelmed as to when is what due and where is it going and … you get my drift. I have my monthly calendar color coded with the location explained on the right, but that’s a calendar for all the other “stuff” in my life. So, I made a special section just for my exhibitions with notes on DL (deadline for entry), DO (drop off), PU (pick up) and so on.

I hope this helps someone out that has questions on how to do bullet journaling.
